Candace Hulbert joined Nebraska Extension on January 19 as our Weather Ready Agriculture AmeriCorps VISTA member. During her service term, she is providing leadership to the Weather Ready Farms (WRF) program and the Hail Know project. Candace will be exploring funding opportunities and preparing grant applications for WRF and expanding the suite of Hail Know resources. Candace’s Extension project mentors are Ashley Mueller, Melissa Bartels, and Nathan Mueller.
Candace is from Bakersfield, California. She is a 2020 University of Michigan graduate, where she majored in English and Political Science. During her time as an undergraduate student, Candace worked with the America Reads Program at the University of Michigan, where she tutored elementary school students. She also served as the communications intern for Tall Ships America (this is worth googling!) for the 2019 Tall Ships Great Lakes Challenge Series.
Candace enjoys yoga, hiking, and binge-watching Gordon Ramsay shows. She aspires to go to law school and be an environmental lawyer.
