LTAP Assistance in Flood Recovery

The Nebraska Local Technical Assistance Program (LTAP) provides transportation related training and technical assistance for Nebraska’s Local Public Agencies (LPAs). All counties, cities, and villages in Nebraska are eligible to participate in any of our programs. Our four primary focus areas include highway safety, public infrastructure management, workforce development, and organizational excellence. Our sponsors are the Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) and the U.S. Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). We currently have 9 full-time employees, including two with offices at NDOT, and an annual budget of around $1.1M. Our course offerings for LPAs include topics such as heavy equipment operation, proper traffic control, flagger operations, project management, state highway and bridge law, bridge inspection, and superintendent training, among many others.

LTAP is assisting 11 Nebraska counties in their flood relief effort by helping them to collect data and complete documentation required for submittal to FHWA for reimbursement of road and bridge repair expenses on their Federal-Aid eligible routes. In addition, we are always available to any local government for technical assistance related to repair, maintenance, and construction of public transportation infrastructure. Please see our website at https://ltap.unl.edu for contact information and a listing of flood recovery resources.
