Hello Geology Majors,

I hope that you are doing well as we begin the 5th week of the Fall 2022 semester. This week is the start of the Fall 2022 semester Career and Internship Fairs, and I would strongly encourage you to attend these fairs. Thus, I want to outline some resources that you have to be a prepared attendee.

University Career Services and our Career Coaches have put together a webpage for resources available at https://careers.unl.edu/preparing-for-career-fairs/. The webpage outlines everything from preparing your resume, explaining what to wear, researching companies in attendance, and providing tips for conversations with employers. Unless you are just looking to experience the fair, you definitely want to attend as prepared as possible. The fall semester Career and Internship Fair is where many employers find interns for the next summer, so again, I strongly encourage you to attend.

Please let me know how attending the career and internship fairs goes for you and if you meet any employers that you would like to learn more about.

Academic Probation Students
Now is an excellent time to start working on your additional requirements if you find yourself on Academic Probation Level 1 or 2 for the Fall 2022 semester. In order to use your Priority Registration for Spring 2023 time, you are going to need to complete your Probation Self-Assessment form (found in MyRed within your To-Do Items in the Message Center on the left side). Then, you will need to be meet with me, and depending your situation, we might have a plan for you to complete. This will take some time, and you need to have everything complete before I can lift your hold on Spring 2023 semester enrollment. Priority Registration for Spring 2023 starts on Monday, October 28th, and I know that the time will pass quickly. You have already received a few emails about Academic Probation from the University and the College, so please plan to take action soon! I really do want to help you as you move forward at the University.

Best wishes, Doug
