Underground Mine Technician KC
Hello,
Please find attached a job listing for the Underground Mine Technician in Kansas City. We are looking for someone that is a mature, extraordinarily self-directed person with a geology (sed/strat) skillset who is looking for a long term career. They have to be a bit of a glutton for punishment (as most geologists are) because the main component of this job is fieldwork, alone, in underground mining environments. I would estimate about an 80/20 split of field/ office. We are looking for someone with really strong communication skills (rather generic to say for a job posting, I know…) because a vital part of this job is being able to build report/trust with the production miners as well as management and present findings to both.
In the past, this position tended to turn into a developmental role (which is good), but we would like to retain someone for a bit longer term if at all possible. It is a vital part of the safety of our underground operations.

Please feel free to call if there are any questions. It was refreshing to talk to someone from UNL! So far there are two UNL geo grads who have held this position in the past.
