Nebraska Geological Society (NGS) Social Event

Dear Students,

Here are the details about the upcoming event of the Nebraska Geological Society (NGS):

The event will be in the Schramm Education Center (21502 West Highway 31, Gretna, NE 68028) on Sunday, September 15. NGS will have a catered lunch/dinner (~12:30 pm) of brisket, pulled chicken, salads, dessert, lemonade and tea, followed by a program starting at the outcrop near the south end of the park, entitled “Fractures and mechanical stratigraphy and CO2, oh my! - Exploring the Schramm Park Geologic Display”, by Caroline (Cara) M Burberry, PhD, PG, Associate Professor, Department of Earth and Atmospheric Science, UNL.

Student registration (including the meal) is free, pending their (free) Student Membership in NGS. Students must be registered by September 11 so that we have a good count for the caterer. Students should see our Membership Page for more information.

Registration for this event is available on our event page. All questions go to Mr. Douglas Hallum, Nebraska Geological Society President (dhallum2@unl.edu)

Students, this is a wonderful opportunity for you to 1) get a free membership in the professional society (looks cool in your resume), 2) network with established local professionals and inquire about mentorship and/or job/internship opportunities, 3) spend quality time outside learning about local geology with your friends, and 4) have a free BBQ lunch! Can this be any better?!?

See you there!
