Update to Spring 2025 Classes: Volcanology & Igneous Petrology
Hi All,
I am very happy to report that we are adding GEOL 412/812: Volcanology & Igneous Petrology to our list of classes offered in Spring 2025! This should be approved and available for registration soon. Please keep an eye out for it and consider enrolling for the spring!!
Here is a brief summary of the class and what you can expect:
GEOL 412/812: Volcanology and Igneous Petrology: This is a 3-credit graduate/undergraduate class that spans magma generation and evolution, geochemical and isotopic methods, advanced petrography, and volcanology topics. We will read and discuss papers, do some in-class exercises, problem sets, and a takehome midterm, and work on a term paper on a topic of your choosing in petrology and volcanology. The prerequisite is GEOL 201: Igneous and Metamorphic Petrology.
This class will be offered at T Th 11am-12:15pm. Please do let me know (lelkins@unl.edu) if you have any questions about the class, or if you are interested but cannot make it work at this time; if enough people fall into the second category, we might be able to reschedule it (though options are limited, so I cannot guarantee this).
Thank you!!
-Dr. Elkins (lelkins@unl.edu)
