Geology Student Spotlight

The Geology Student Spotlight is your opportunity to learn a bit more about one of your fellow Geology majors at UNL. This week, Spencer Robinson from Sidney, Nebraska, is in the spotlight.

Name: Spencer Robinson
Major: Geology
Year in School: Sophomore

Where are you from?

I am from Sidney, Nebraska.

What gets you excited about Geology?

The fact that it’s everywhere. It makes you appreciate anything involving Earth so much more. You meet interesting people, you do interesting things, and you get to drop some knowledge on unsuspecting people.

Favorite Geology class or instructor so far? Why?

So far, my favorite Geology class has been GEOL 103 (historical geology). Learning about Earth’s history, from orogenies to evolution, really fascinated me and greatly boosted my interest in Geology.

What are you excited about doing after graduation?

I’m excited to put everything I’ve learned into use and start my professional career.

What is a goal you have accomplished as a Husker?

As a Husker, I think I’ve grown as a person. I like the person I am now more than the person who showed up to Lincoln over a year ago. I hope other people would agree.

What do you wish you would have known when you started as a Geology Major that you know now?

The amount of foreign language needed to complete a Geology degree at UNL.

What do you hope to cross off your “bucket list” in the next few years?

I’d like to go to Antarctica; I think it’d be good for me, like dipping your head in cold water to get used to it.
