30 days after the first day of classes, you can join the conversation on comprehensive—as in career, cultural, emotional, environmental, financial, intellectual, physical, social, and spiritual—well-being and academic support alongside fellow first-gen graduate students.

First 30: First-Generation Graduate Students is an event for graduate students who identified either as first generation at the undergraduate level and/or currently identify as a first generation student in graduate education.

After this event, you will:

  • Know who to contact for academic/professional support at the Office of Graduate Studies
  • Be able to identify and understand the nine dimensions of well-being
  • Be acquainted with graduate-student Well-being Coaches from Big Red Resilience & Well-being
  • Know other graduate students in the first-generation community
  • Gain insight on how to manage graduate school from other graduate students' experiences
