Do you have questions about understanding the diverse backgrounds and needs of your students?

As part of the Inclusive Teaching Series, the Office of Graduate Studies will host a workshop/discussion group on supporting student needs for graduate students and postdocs who work with students as TAs or research mentors and want to understand how to best support their students.

This 2-part discussion group is designed to provide an opportunity for graduate students who serve as TAs and mentors to discuss challenges and concerns, identify strategies to help, and learn about additional campus resources.

This is intended to be an interactive discussion group for graduate students to share their experiences and current concerns or questions and develop strategies. TAs may find themselves trying to understand and address student needs such as helping students experiencing personal or health crises, inclusive teaching and teaching with diversity in mind, addressing student learning needs, understanding student backgrounds and the needs for specific populations of students (e.g. first generation students, etc.), or identifying student resources to name a few.

This will be a 2-part discussion group meeting conducted via Zoom on February 3, 2021 and February 9, 2021 from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. on both days.

Register to participate in this 2-part workshop/discussion group. Please email Lisa Rohde at lrohde2@unl.edu if you have additional questions.

This discussion group will count towards CIRTL@Nebraska Certification.
