Tips for Students attending the Virtual Career Fair:

  1. Sign up for Employer Sessions in Advance. Virtual career fairs allow you to pre-schedule sessions with employers during times that work for you. Connect with employers by signing up for available group and/or 1:1 sessions. Group sessions last for 30 minutes and are a great way to learn more about a company and/or its opportunities. 1:1 sessions are 10-minute slots with a single employer recruiter. To sign up, select sessions, or review your session schedule, log in to Handshake and select the fair under Events. Remember to add sessions to your calendar or set a reminder so that you show up on time for your sessions.
  2. Prepare and Make an Impression. Prepare for your sessions so that you can bring your unique perspective to the table, ask great questions, and follow up with recruiters after the fair. Check out Handshake’s 10 Virtual Career Fair Tips and the Virtual Career Fair Resources to assist with your preparation.
  3. Zoom Help Room. Have questions or IT issues on the day of the fair? Career Services will have a Virtual Career Fair Zoom Help Room open and available for students to attend for last-minute questions and assistance. Room opens half hour before each fair day and runs throughout the fair.
Headshots are back from the In-person Career Fair! Students that had them taken at the in-person University Career Fair can now download their picture and update their Handshake and LinkedIn profiles in preparation for next week’s fair. (Hint: select day attended and then view by tiles)
