By facilitating REACH trainings to groups of university students, staff and faculty, trained individuals help others learn the risk factors, warning signs and intervention tactics to prevent suicide.

Initial training for those interested in becoming a REACH trainer will take place from 9 a.m. to noon on October 28, 2022 in Howard L. Hawks Hall. Those interested should sign up to participate. Graduate Students of all backgrounds are welcome and encouraged to join.

Trainers receive comprehensive training and ongoing support throughout the year to become campus leaders in suicide prevention. Each trainer is asked to facilitate the 90-minute training twice per semester.

“I REACH because I want to build true connections with individuals,” said Rebekah Neary-DeLaPorte, assistant director for the Nebraska Business Honors Academy. “I want to equip people with the tools and the confidence to ask the hard questions while showing deep empathy toward others.”
