Why earn a PhD in business or economics at UNL?
- Recent graduates have been hired as university faculty (90%) or analysts/consultants in firms, nonprofits or government (10%)
- Small residential program with personalized support from faculty—examples of faculty articles are listed in the College of Business Faculty Directory
- Free tuition and benefits (e.g., health insurance) for 4-5 years
- Research/teaching assistantship (20 hours per week, stipend ≈ $25,000)
- Low cost of living in Lincoln, a safe and livable mid-sized city
- Specialization Areas: Accountancy, Economics, Finance, Management, Marketing, Supply Chain Management and Analytics
Prerequisites
- BS/BA: GPA ≥5 or above preferred but not required for all specializations
- MS/MA/MBA and work experience required for specializations in Accountancy, Marketing, and Supply Chain Management and Analytics
- Previous academic degrees do not have to be in Business or Economics
- GMAT: score ≥ 650 (or equivalent on GRE) preferred but not required for all specializations
- Calculus courses required for specialization in Accountancy, Economics, Finance, and Supply Chain Management and Analytics
- Statistics courses required for specialization in Finance
- Research experience preferred but not required
