FELLOWSHIP: Buffett Early Childhood Institute

The Buffett Early Childhood Institute at the University of Nebraska is currently accepting applications from advanced doctoral students representing diverse fields within the university system for one-year fellowships worth up to $25,000.

The Buffett Early Childhood Institute Graduate Scholars program will award up to four fellowships to advanced students who are preparing or completing their doctoral dissertations during the 2023-24 academic year. The program goal is to support high-quality research that impacts the early years of life, drawn from diverse fields including health, education, social work, music, art, psychology, the neurosciences, and more.

Consistent with the mission of the Institute, applicants are encouraged to consider how their work can impact and transform early development over time. Multidisciplinary research and new methodologies are welcomed.

To broaden the perspectives in research on young children, the Buffett Institute encourages applications from a diverse group of researchers in terms of race, ethnicity, and gender. Research projects led by Black or African American, Indigenous, Latinx, and Asian or Pacific Islander American researchers are of particular interest. International students are also welcome to apply.

Completed applications are due Wednesday, March 31, and 2023-24 fellowship recipients will be notified by the end of June. Additional details can be found in the materials below:
