This spring CIRTL is offering 3 courses, 2 event series, 1 event, and 3 workshops for graduate students and postdocs pursuing teaching careers in STEM disciplines. Registration dates vary; most programming opens for registration on Monday, January 8, but some capped programming starting later in the term will open for registration closer to their start dates.

Academic professional development programming includes: 
Research Mentor Training | Work with a community of peers to develop and improve your research mentoring skills in this 5-week seminar-style course. Registration opens Monday, January 8 and closes when capacity is reached. Cap: 20.

Preparing Your Teaching Demo for a Job Interview | In this one-session workshop, we’ll discuss ways to go into your teaching demo with preparedness, confidence, and adaptability. Registration opens Monday, January 8 and closes Wednesday, January 31. No cap.

Exploring Career Paths with CIRTL Alumni | Learn about different career paths in academia and beyond in conversation with CIRTL alumni in this 4-part event series. Registration opens Monday, January 8 and closes Wednesday, April 24. No cap.

Caring for Yourself as an Instructor: Applying Rest in the Classroom | Develop strategies for self-care as an instructor in this one-part workshop. Registration opens Monday, January 8 and closes when capacity is reached. Cap: 15.

The Joyful Journey: Graduate Student and Postdoctoral Scholar Professional Development Series | Get a sampler of academic professional development in this 8-part event series covering everything from the academic hiring process, to defining your teaching philosophy, to careers outside academia.  Schedule TBD. Registration opens Monday, January 8. No cap.

Evidence-based teaching fundamentals programming includes: 
Building Neuroinclusive Learning Environments: Best Practices to Support and Empower Neurodiverse Learners in STEM | Learn neurodiversity basics, explore accessible approaches to teaching and learning, and revise a specific component of your own teaching in this 4-week short course. Registration opens Monday, January 8 and closes when capacity is reached. Cap: 25.

Mindset to Mastery: The Inclusive Teaching Course | Examine your own identities, values, and experiences to cultivate an inclusive mindset that informs your teaching practices in this 8-week course. Registration opens Monday, January 29 and closes when capacity is reached. Cap: 25.

CIRTL MOOC: Advancing Learning Through Evidence-Based STEM Teaching | Explore fundamental topics in STEM teaching and learning in this 8-week, asynchronous online course ideal for grad students and postdocs with busy schedules. Unlike all other cross-Network programming, this Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) is only available to CIRTL member institutions, and should not be advertised broadly beyond our institutional learning communities.

Science communication programming includes: 
Re-imagining data: Using arts-based methods for new perspectives in research, teaching and learning | Explore the creative potential of new ways of reading and analyzing text in this two-part workshop on arts-based research (ABR). Through the ABR approach of “poetic inquiry,” participants will learn new methods for reading, assessing, and analyzing journal articles, research, and other written materials in a variety of scientific disciplines. Registration opens Monday, February 5 and closes when capacity is reached. Cap: 40.

Teaching-as-Research programming includes: 
CIRTL Network Teaching-as-Research Presentations | Hear graduate students and postdocs from across the CIRTL Network share the results of their Teaching-as-Research (TAR) projects in this online event. Registration opens Monday, January 8 and closes Thursday, April 11. No cap.
