In partnership with the Council of Graduate Schools, the Office of Graduate Studies will be beginning a project to study the career pathways of PhD students in several departments across campus. The goal of this project is to better understand the careers that PhD alumni have pursued and the career preparation that PhD students received as part of their programs.
For this initial year of the study, we will focus on a select number of departments, but we intend to expand to survey students and alumni in all PhD programs to best understand the careers of our PhD students. The first year, we will focus on those PhD students and alumni from Agronomy and Horticulture, Chemistry, English, Psychological Studies in Education, Engineering, and Business. Alumni will be surveyed in the fall 2018 and students in the spring 2019.
Results will be reported back to the departments and colleges to help improve their programs.
