UNL student Andrew Frakes has unofficially set a new Guinness record for the number of 300-yard drives in one hour.

Frakes has completed his studies in the Professional Golf Management program, though he is still a UNL student.

Frakes set out on Wednesday to break the old record of 272 300-yard drives in one hour. He ended up with 448. The record still must be confirmed by Guinness.

The event raised money for two charities, Spay it Forward and Families for Effective Autism Treatment. It was held at the TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney, Texas.

Frakes is a graduate of Elkhorn High School. Earlier this year he signed on with Callaway Golf, the world's largest golf club manufacturer.

Last year he completed his rookie season as a long drive pro and qualified in the ReMax World Long Drive Championships. In five rounds his drives averaged more than 400 yards and topped out at a distance of 442 yards.
