The University of Nebraska-Lincoln will host a West Central Crops and Water Field Day on Aug. 22, at the West Central Resources Field Laboratory near Brule, Neb.
The focus will be on irrigation practices and cropping systems that maintain or increase crop production while conserving water.
Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. Mountain Time and there will be programming from 8:45 a.m. to 3 p.m.
In the morning, presentations will discuss crop sensing for nutrient and water management, crop responses to water, the impact of tillage practices on crop evapotranspiration and there will be a weather update presented by state climatologist Al Dutcher.
Field tours in the afternoon will educate attendees about variable rate irrigation, residue and cover crops, unmanned aerial vehicles for crop sensing and high clearance sprayers and applicators for precision agriculture.
While the event and lunch are free, participants are asked to register by Aug.15, so appropriate plans can be made more meals, teaching resources and tour logistics.
