Seniors Anders Olson of Tekamah and Jordyn Lechtenberg of Ainsworth were crowned king and queen today at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's Homecoming celebration. Olson and Lechtenberg, who were elected in a vote of the UNL student body on Oct. 3, were crowned on the field at Memorial Stadium at halftime of the Nebraska-Illinois football game.
Olson is an agribusiness major with a minor in agricultural leadership in the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources, where he carries a 3.554 grade-point average. He is a winner of the Regents, Spader Student Leadership Excellence and Ag Builders scholarships. A member of the Innocents Society, the chancellor's senior honorary, he's also a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. On campus, he is a member of Alpha Gamma Sigma fraternity and volunteers with New Student Enrollment and Dance Marathon. Off campus, Olson is a Nebraska FFA state officer selection committee member, a volunteer with the Tekamah-Herman-Decatur Food Pantry and a Tekamah-Herman-Decature vacation Bible school preschool games teacher. He is the son of Randy and Patty Olson.
Lechtenberg is an agribusiness major with a minor in entrepreneurship in the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources and carries a 3.97 grade-point average. She is an Engler Entrepreneurship Scholar, National FFA Scholar and the winner of a David Distinguished Scholarship. On campus, Lechtenberg is a member of the Engler Entrepreneurship Club, the Nebraska Human Resources Institute and her college's student advisory board. Her off-campus activities include the Agriculture Ambassador for Ag Sack Lunch Program, leadership in Focus Bible Study, and service on the TEDx Youth Lincoln Committee. She is the daughter of Roger and Rhonda Lechtenberg.
