Connecting Young Nebraskans Summit Oct. 28

The 2011 Connecting Young Nebraskans Summit Oct. 28 will get young Nebraskans talking about how they can play a role in their communities and learn more about Nebraska.

The summit will be at the Nielsen Center in West Point, with a social the evening before. More than 150 are expected to attend. Tina Bitegh Bi NDong of the West Point Chamber of Commerce, said, "West Point is excited to host this year's event, which will bring together the talent and creative minds of the next generation of Nebraska's leaders."

CYN is a statewide network designed to connect, empower and retain young Nebraskans. CYN strives to enhance opportunities for individuals to influence their communities through networking and learning experiences.

Last year's summit was in Grand Island and drew more than 120 young Nebraskans from across the state, from many different organizations and workplaces.

This year's keynote speakers will include Jeff Slobotski and Dusty Davidson, founders of the Silicon Prairie news who will discuss "A Sense of Place."

A variety of breakout sessions is planned, including topics such as: creating a personal brand, engaging legislators, attracting and retaining young Nebraskans and more. The summit also will provide networking opportunities through a Thursday night social gathering and roundtable discussions on Friday.
