Happy first day of classes from the International Student and Scholar Office!
ISSO is the central hub for international students studying at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and will be the main source for students who need advising from our immigration specialists, as well as non-immigration support from our International Student Success Navigators. We want to help you maintain your immigration status, as well as make friends, form strong networking connections, and enjoy all the fun events for this year!
Along with our specialists, ISSO has our International Event Coordinators — student workers who will be around to direct your questions — as well as friendly faces who you will see at all of the fun events ISSO puts on throughout the year!
With the first week starting, ISSO wants to give you a checklist that will help guide the new school year — with help from our neighboring student center, CAST!
1. Make sure you are checking your @huskers.unl.edu email daily. Not only is this beneficial so you are communicating with professors, academic advisors, and UNL updates, but also keep in communication with ISSO and notifications regarding your immigration status.
Be sure to subscribe to the ISSO newsletter so you can get updates on all events, reminders, and stories from other international students!
2. GO TO CLASS: The first days are crucial for success.
3. Use your planner, phone, or Outlook Calendar to input important dates for quizzes, papers, projects, and exams.
4. Review all of your syllabi and create a Syllabi Matrix.
5. Looking for a way to stay active and have fun? Check out the FREE Group Fitness classes: https://crec.unl.edu/activities/group-fitness
6. Attend the Club Fair on the City Campus, on Wednesday, August 28, and on East Campus, on Thursday, August 29.
7. Review your bill on MyRED.
