Morning Show Anchor/Producer - KNOP-TV (North Platte, NE)

KNOP-TV is accepting applications for a full-time Anchor/Producer for our newsroom in North Platte, NE. He/she has a passion for creative storytelling and dynamic thinking when it comes to morning show presentations. This is a great position for someone seeking their first professional job as an anchor. He/she will be part of the Nebraska News & Information Network that ties newsrooms from Lincoln to Scottsbluff.

The select candidate is capable of anchoring, reporting, writing, producing, planning, story generation, web posting, videography and editing, and producing news stories from inception to completion professionally, as assigned, via our various and growing media channels, and all on deadline. The select candidate must demonstrate flexibility in the newsroom and on-air and present an energetic personality while delivering the news.

Duties include, but are not limited to presenting TV & online news stories that are professionally complete and compelling, anchor newscasts as assigned, present stories calmly and clearly and in a live capacity, appear at promotional functions, operate news equipment in a safe, professional manner, support news promotion, contribute regularly to news coverage and perform duties as assigned. He/she must also be a champion for online and social media efforts during a critical part of the day for our viewers. The position is also responsible for knowledge of the community and story idea generation while waiting for the next alarm to sound in North Platte.

Qualifications include: media-related bachelor’s degree or equivalent job experience in journalism, experience in a newsroom turning stories on a daily deadline, experience with a video camera in shooting and editing and experience reporting in a live capacity. High flexibility is required as this position has odd hours. News judgment, decisiveness, strong ability to handle/meet deadlines, exceptional writing/grammar skills, positive ability to work well with other staff, strong on-air presence need to be first and accurate with news coverage, working knowledge of new media, and willingness to take direction as a team player are essential. Must maintain a permanent residence within 30 minutes of station and meet physical requirements of the position. Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential. A valid driver's license is required.
