The Reporter/MMJ will research, produce, shoot, write, edit and present news content on-air and on social media. This employee will be based in Hastings, NE and primary responsibilities will be to cover stories important to KSNB's viewers in the immediate Hastings-Grand Island-Kearney area.
He/She will have opportunities to put together and present on-air weather forecasts for weekend evening newscasts, and on other newscasts as needed. He/she will also be expected to push the envelope in developing compelling visuals and presentations with a hyper-local focus on the Hastings/Grand Island/Kearney portion of the market. He/she will decide on the best way to tell the “weather story of the day.” During severe weather coverage, he/she would work with a team of meteorologists across the state to bring comprehensive and in-depth presentation of what is happening across Nebraska.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
> Perform all the regular duties of a reporter, from story ideas to shooting, editing, and going live, as well as posting on digital and social platforms
> Be ready and willing to work various schedules depending on the staffing needs of the station
> Recognize that he/she is a high-profile representative of our news organization in the community and conduct himself/herself in a professional and cordial manner which reflects credit on KSNB
Qualifications:
This position requires a high level of creativity and communication. It also requires a degree in journalism or related discipline. We also need a person who is conversant and facile in story-telling on-air and on social media and who understands how the various platforms can be used to demonstrate KSNB's commitment to hyper-local news coverage. Familiarity with WSI Max, ENPS, Avid editing, and Sony ENG equipment a plus.
