Marketing/PR Intern - African Library Project (remote/Oakland, CA)

The Marketing Intern will support the organization’s marketing and communications efforts ensuring alignment and consistency across various platforms. This position reports to the Marketing and Knowledge Management Manager.

Responsibilities:
> Help develop & disseminate marketing and communications content including but not limited to blog content, social media content, e-newsletters, email blasts, and print materials in line with marketing plans
> Assist with implementing marketing strategies that target youth (ages 5-25) in the U.S. and Canada so as to increase their engagement as Book Drive Organizers (BDOs) and ALP Youth Ambassadors
> Enhance ALP storytelling by writing impact stories on US volunteers and African beneficiaries
> Conduct market research to identify new marketing and PR opportunities to promote specific programs and help with team decision-making for current and potential projects
> Assist in search engine optimization include link building to other sites
> Help promote positive PR and increase media coverage in geographic areas with good marketing potential or organizations with high likelihood of BDO recruitment (e.g., H.S. service clubs)
> Assist in placing targeted ads in print magazines and digital platforms
> Help track and report on social media, website, and email marketing analytics
> Assist in creating engaging support materials for book drive organizers
> Help curate & organize digital assets including photos, BDO stories, thank you letters, etc.
> Assist with website and social media content creation including developing video, graphic, and written content as needed
> Work on multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
> Support with other administrative duties as they arise

Details:
> Part-time: 20 hours per week
> Pay: $18/hour
> Location: This is a remote position. Regular meetings are conducted via Zoom/Skype teleconference.

Skills & Requirements:
> Self-starter with exceptional organizational and communication skills
> Strong writing skills
> Experience carrying out marketing campaigns on social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.)
> Experience with graphic design required
> Video experience strongly preferred
> Ability to work independently and complete tasks with minimal supervision
> Ability to carry out multiple projects, organize priorities, and manage a flexible schedule
> Interest in literacy, libraries, education, youth development, and/or development in sub-Saharan Africa
> Experience or strong interest in working with non-profit organizations
> Fully remote position; residence in SF Bay Area preferred
> Prior experience working remotely preferred
