Valmont is seeking an organized, self-motivated, excellent writer to act as a part-time copywriting intern. Excellent communication skills, knowledge of proper spelling and grammar, a passion for writing and strong attention to detail are essential to succeed in this position.
Valmont’s copywriting intern supports the global marketing team by writing, editing and proofreading content for websites, social media posts, marketing materials and more. You will develop a portfolio of published writing samples, refine your writing skills for different audiences and gain valuable real-world writing experience.
This position is approximately 20-25 hours per week during the school year and 40 hours a week during the summer internship program depending on applicant’s availability, and based out of the corporate headquarters in Omaha, NE.
Valmont’s internship program mission is to provide a hands-on learning experience through project work, leadership development, job shadowing and interaction with senior leadership.
Essential Functions:
> Draft and edit a variety of digital, print and sales communications (for example: website, social media, HR recruiting, brochures, sales presentations, reports and other materials)
> Work with the global brand team to identify and understand high-level messaging and strategy
> Monitor results of digital communications and recommendations for refinements
> Research articles and information related to a variety of subjects
> Proofreading and editing assistance
> Leading projects under the global marketing team
> Complete assignments on time and work within tight deadlines
Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):
> Junior or Senior standing in college, or MBA student pursuing a degree in Advertising, Communication, Journalism, or other relevant fields
> Excellent communication skills, knowledge of proper spelling and grammar, a passion for writing and strong attention to detail
> Extremely organized, self-motivated, and responds positive to feedback
> Professional demeanor, eagerness to learn, and proficient in multitasking
> Flexible, can work with changing priorities and deadlines
> Team player within the global marketing team and with our partners across the global enterprise
> Send supervisor(s) progress updates throughout each week
> Respond to feedback in a timely manner
