NET

The mission of NET is to enrich lives and engage minds by connecting communities and celebrating Nebraska with services that educate, entertain and enlighten.

Situated on UNL’s East Campus, NET is recognized as one of the most innovative and effective public broadcasting agencies in the United States. NET provides state of the art video and audio production and post-production, as well as a fully equipped HD remote truck. Pursuing excellence in multi-media production is NET’s hallmark, from creating educational interactive media, to crafting news stories and documentaries which span an array of social, historical, scientific and political topics- all of which affect Nebraskans locally or provide a regional, national, or international perspective.

Interns working at NET will receive the best combined opportunity of real-world experience, as well as the chance to hone their skills and learn new ones from NET’s supportive staff. All interns will receive hands on training and instruction, as well as opportunities to expand their resume by working on projects with professionals with all of NET’s resources at their disposal. Students will be placed where their skills and interest match NET’s needs to create a mutually beneficial internship.

Quotes from past interns

“Having first-hand experience has been extremely helpful to my development as a filmmaker. There is no way that I could replace the experience I have had filming. As a filmmaker, learning from a textbook is a nice idea but…having first-hand experience has forced me to put theories of filming into practice. I have developed new ways of approaching filmmaking, and it has been an essential part of my education as a whole.”

“Working in real life situations is the most helpful and educational experience I can possibly have. I learned many news things, things that can never be taught in a classroom setting…and I am very grateful that I was given this chance.”
