Studio and Book Circulation Support - Nebraska Library Commission's TBBS (Lincoln, NE)

Under general supervision, the Studio and Book Circulation Support position (full-time) performs work in the coordination and operation of the Library Commission’s audio production studios in Talking Book and Braille Services (TBBS). In addition to audio production, responsibilities include the adjustment, preventative maintenance, and repair on studio equipment, other than computer hardware and software. The person in this position will interact regularly with other Commission staff and volunteers.

Nebraska Library Commission's Talking Book and Braille Service (TBBS) is part of a nationwide network of cooperating libraries headed by the National Library Service (NLS), a division of the Library of Congress. TBBS provides free audiobooks, audio magazines and Braille through the mail to individuals with a visual or physical condition, or a reading disability which limits use of regular print. Eligible individuals can also download books and magazines from BARD online.

In our in-house sound studios, we also record and produce audiobooks and audio magazines from either Nebraska and regional authors or about Nebraska and the Great Plains. The recordings from our Nebraska Collection are made available for loan to our patrons.

REQUIREMENTS: Coursework/training in administrative/office support functions, procedures, and methods including the operation of personal computers and office equipment; research; or areas related to the programs and functions of the employing agency OR experience in performing administrative/office/secretarial support work including use of personal computers and office equipment.

PREFERRED: Bachelor degree in broadcasting, or audio production, or bachelor degree in English or speech plus at least two years’ experience in digital audio recording. Experience working with digital recording software. At least two years related work experience in digital recording.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to operate recording equipment and software. Ability to relate well to paid staff and volunteers, to read and understand audio production standards; and to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to coordinate and prioritize work.
