OpenSky Policy Institute, Lincoln, NE, is seeking applicants for full- or part-time communications internships for summer 2012. Positions are paid at $10/hr. Students including May graduates will be considered.

For someone who wants to get some real experience, this is a great opportunity. We are going to be releasing a budget and tax primer soon, and will be travelling around the state giving presentations and meeting with editorial boards so there is a lot of opportunity to work with media across the state. Also, we are part of a network sponsored by the center on budget and policy priorities, so the intern will have access to the communications listserve, where they reach out to other communications staff across the country for advice/suggestions. Also, the center has 4 communications staff to assist the states, so this intern will be able to get feedback and suggestions from a number of professionals. Finally, we are going to hold a policy seminar in the fall so we’ll be working on that over the summer as well.

OpenSky is a new think tank focused on fiscal policy in Nebraska. Duties will include writing press releases, posting to OpenSky’s website and on social media networks, tracking press clips and traffic on social media networks, updating and maintaining press contact lists, and assisting with the office's day-to-day communications operation. Applicants should have a strong interest in political communications, new media, or journalism. Please send your resume and cover letter to rfry@openskypolicy.org by May 16, 2012.
