KSNB-TV Local4 in Hastings, NE, is looking for the next storyteller in our news department. You will develop stories, then shoot, write, edit and report these stories live on-air. And while those are important parts of the job, the greater emphasis will be on finding a reporter who can tell a "people" story that our audience will find compelling.
QUALIFICATIONS:
We need people on our team who have a passion for learning about our community and our audience and who authentically demonstrate that passion on the air, online and especially in person. Our audience embraces our talent because we show them that we care. On-air experience at a professional news station, a college degree or equivalent job experience in a journalism related field, are desired.
We’re also looking for the ability to communicate live in a professional manner, for all of our media channels. The ability to type and operate newsroom computers and other news gathering equipment in an above average capacity, excellent people skills when dealing with coworkers and the public, a valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record are requirements. KSNB also does pre-employment drug testing. Position would require permanent residence in Hastings or Grand Island, Nebraska.
The right candidate will be a proven leader in the newsroom. We need someone who’s a positive influence for those around them, and thrives in a competitive, but fun environment. Familiarity with iNews, Sony ENG, Avid, TVU, and ARC Publishing a plus. Must have valid drivers license with good driving record. Employment is contingent on successfully passing drug screen and driving record check.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
> Produce and anchor news content
> Enterprise, shoot, edit, and report compelling stories
> Execute all aspects of storytelling, scheduling shoots and interviews, shooting video, writing scripts, editing, and going live as needed
> Be a multi-platform storyteller, with regular posts to social media and the station's website and news apps
> Meet tight daily deadlines
> Respond urgently and appropriately to breaking and developing news
