CoJMC documentary part of "Wild Kingdom's" 50th anniversary

This is the 50th anniversary of the "Wild Kingdom" television show. In a special Signature Story for NET News, Barney McCoy explains what made it one of the most successful programs and talks with its Nebraska-born creator.

McCoy interviewed UNL graduate and "Wild Kingdom" creator Don Meier for the report along with former co-host Jim Fowler.

It will air on NET radio’s Signature Story Friday Feb. 1 at 6:30 a.m., 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. CT on NET Radio.

"Exploring the Wild Kingdom" took viewers to seven continents. The program won a family viewing recommendation from the national Parent Teachers Association; four Emmy Awards and 37 other citations. It was produced by the College of Journalism and Mass Communications at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Bernard McCoy, Bruce Mitchell, Carol Cornsilk, University of Nebraska Foundation and NET.
