Starting summer 2013, Bright House Networks Local Programming Group (LPG) will hold a paid internship program that focuses on career paths in the news producing arena. Our summer term requires interns to work forty hours per week.

LPG News Producing Internship (Summer 2013)
Bright House Networks Local Programming Group consists of Bay News 9, Central Florida News 13, Bright House Sports Network and InfoMas. Bay News 9 and Central Florida News 13 are a continuous source for breaking news and weather coverage. The LPG summer program will focus and serve as an introduction to a 24-hour local newsroom. The Internship will teach methods of news gathering, writing, and the stages of our news wheel production for individuals interested in pursuing a career as a news producer.

Ideal candidates for the summer program are college juniors, seniors and graduate students within a year of graduation who want to pursue a career as a news producer and have prior exposure to a newsroom environment. Interns are expected to fulfill a pre-determined schedule for up to 12 weeks. All interns will receive hands-on training, including use of company equipment, while training and working alongside Bay News 9 and Central Florida News 13 employees. Interns will also receive monetary compensation but are not eligible for fringe company benefits, such as medical insurance. The 2013 summer intern will be hosted at Bay News 9 in the St. Petersburg (Tampa Bay) area.
