Position title: Campus Leader
Position description:
Do you have great ideas for stories? Do you want to be a leader, where you
get to see your vision turn into reality?
As a Campus Leader, you’ll be the managing editor of your university’s
Campus Page. This is a critically important leadership position: you will
make the daily decisions that will determine the depth and breadth of the
content on that Campus Page. You should have a strong understanding of AP
style and copyright laws. Moreover, you will:
Plan immediate and long-term coverage with your Conference Editor in weekly
meetings.
Get priority in covering major sports news on campus (this includes being the
lead journalist for football/men’s basketball).
Collaborate with the rest of your team to determine which stories to
coverhelp edit and publish stories for the campus page.
Communicate with the athletic department re: possible major stories
(compelling human interest features, breaking news, etc.)press
credentials/protocols.
Help recruit prospective writers, photographers and broadcasters to join the
teamrecommend students for promotions.
Required experience: Previous journalism and/or leadership experience
preferred.
