KSNB-TV, Grand Island: Video Journalist/Producer

KSNB-TV is accepting applications for a full-time Video Journalist based in Grand Island.
The Video Journalist has general responsibility for accurate, relevant and timely news coverage for online and on-air audiences with emphasis on visual presentation. This position involves solid news judgment, visual storytelling, use of several news coverage tools, ability to lead news coverage, and competence to work as a self-contained, self-sufficient professional journalist.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to): come to work with ideas on what should be covered in the Grand Island/Hastings/Kearney area; make regular beat calls, check criminal and court records, work with assignments manager based in Lincoln on what should be covered for the day and coordinate with other available journalists, set up stories, interview subjects, shoot and edit video, prepare and plan live reports on a needed basis, work with 1011 Central Nebraska Executive Producer on breaking news/spot news events, step in to help produce a newscasts on a needed basis.
Reports may also be required for other 1011 News stations (KOLN/KGIN/KNPL). Video Journalist will drive a company vehicle during work hours, transport equipment and use it for news coverage.

Qualifications include: Knowledge of the Central Nebraska region is ideal. Media-related bachelor’s degree or equivalent job experience in journalism is required along with strong ability to cover news independently, ability to get video/audio, edit, write and report accurately and creatively under deadline pressure, understanding of newsroom operations and professional news gathering/news coverage practices, including ability to interact positively with people. Video Journalist must maintain a permanent residence within 30 minutes of station and meet physical requirements of the position. He/She must be excellent oral and written communication skills are essential. A valid driver's license is required.
