The Bigheart Times of Barnsdall, Okla., is looking for a repporter/photographer. This is a small newspaper at which you will be expected to learn and do it all, including layout, photography and ad design, but the primary talent we seek is intelligent and in-depth reporting. Osage County, Okla., is the home of the Osage Nation and land of many stories, ranging from a controversial industrial wind development, crazy cop stories, cowboys, environmental degradation and a boatload more.

REQUIREMENTS & GENERAL INFO:
Enthusiasm, curiosity and a self-starting work ethic are the important qualifications. This position requires an artistic eye behind the camera, and the ability to write clearly. We use Adobe Creative Suite -- InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator -- but can train. You must have a car; Osage County is larger than the state of Delaware and has no public transportation. We have a website but since the departure of our last beloved employee, it has fallen on hard times, so if that interests you, you can have at it.

COMPANY DESCRIPTION:
The Bigheart Times is a newspaper in the heart of the Osage Nation that is dedicated to long form, in-depth journalism and quality photography on local and tribal issues. Its publisher, Louise Red Corn, is an award-winning reporter and photographer who has worked as a photographer for the United Nations, and as a reporter for the Detroit Free Press, the Lexington Herald-Leader, Time magazine and others. Competing against much larger newspapers, The Bigheart Times perpetually is ranked the first or second-best weekly in Oklahoma and has won numerous first-place awards, including national awards, for its reporting and photos.
