AARP Nebraska communication internship -- app deadline Oct. 10

The AARP Nebraska State Office has an immediate opening for an Intern. This position will assist the Associate State Director for Communications with activities such as state legislative issues, AARP Fraud Watch, and rural community engagement. Responsibilities will include assisting in coordinating volunteers, developing and planning events, drafting articles for e-mail updates, and engaging in social media activities.

This is a paid internship. The hours are flexible, but 15 hours per week is preferred. The internship would begin as soon as possible.

Qualifications include: strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills; computer skills using Microsoft Word-Excel-Power Point; experience using social media channels; the ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively; and the ability to work well with volunteers and diverse populations.

Applicants should be currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student with at least 30 accumulated credit hours. Preferred areas of study are social work, gerontology, liberal arts, journalism, communications, or political science. Will consider all degrees and work related experience. Applicants should be available to work on one of more of the following weekdays: W, Th, F.
