MTVu would like to involve students in creating short unique animations in lieu of traditional Nominee packages for the upcoming “Woodie Awards.” The show will be broadcast live at SXSW.
The Show:
For the past decade, the “mtvU Woodie Awards” has been at the forefront of breaking some of the biggest names in music. From Iggy Azalea to Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, the “mtvU Woodie Awards” are all about discovering which stars are about to explode onto the charts and dominate the airways. From headliners to up-and-coming artists, this award show celebrates the artists and the music that you discover in college, and fall in love with for the rest of your life.
Details:
This year, The Woodie Awards are looking to involve College students from across the country by showcasing/incorporating their animations in-show. In lieu of traditional Nominee Animations/Packages, we are asking students to contribute short unique animations for each category. The animation would be approximately :45 (exact length TBD), and would ideally be a unique creation by the student, or student group.
There will be three or four awards presented in the show, and we would be looking for an animation for each of these (Nominees for each category are still TBD, but will be confirmed by 2/11).
- Woodie of the Year
- Artist to Watch Woodie (ie. Best New Artist)
- Best Video Woodie
- Co-Sign Woodie (ie. Best Feature on a Song)
We would provide a music/audio bed for each animation, and work with the animator(s) to provide a framework and guidance, but we would be looking for each contributor to showcase and execute their own unique vision.
We would provide Audio/Music beds by Friday February 20. Ideally we would receive final animations on Friday March 6.
When/Where:
The “mtvU Woodie Awards” will be broadcast live on Friday, March 20 at 9 p.m. The animations would be shown in the show, and would be credited to the animator(s) and school who contributed the work.
