Nebraska State Chess Association Internship Proposal

CoJMC_Job.jpg

The Nebraska State Chess Association (NSCA) is a local nonprofit dedicated to encouraging chess across the state of Nebraska. We sponsor and often host chess tournaments, both rated and scholastic.
Our income presently comes from membership dues. We have a list of media contacts, which is out of date.
NSCA is in need of an intern to help us with our communications issues. First, we need someone who will catalog and update the media outlets in and around Nebraska. The intern would then develop contacts with these media outlets and assist NSCA in public relations and information distribution. The intern would work directly with the President and other officers of NSCA to carry out this media development project.
NSCA is also working to develop a survey of all of the schools in Nebraska and their involvement in chess activities. The intern would also work directly with the Board of Directors in gathering and organizing this data.
Finally, NSCA would be interested in submitting some grant applications to help pay for some long term NSCA projects. The intern would again be working directly with the Board on grant writing projects.
We would expect the intern to meet with members of the Board occasionally and to report to the Board at regular intervals.
The intern would be expected to possess basic computer skills, have access to an email account, be well organized, and be able to do some work without direct supervision.
