Marketing/PR Internship, Meadowlark Music Festival

Meadowlark Music Festival is Nebraska’s premier summer international chamber music festival. We bring internationally renowned artists from as far away as France, Greece, Russia, and Argentina to perform chamber music concerts in Lincoln and across the state. A non-profit organization, Meadowlark Music Festival has a hard-working, all-volunteer Board of Directors with expertise in music, fundraising, finance, and promotion. We are seeking a talented intern who isn’t afraid to tackle big projects and has a strong independent work ethic. As an intern you will have the opportunity to work with a variety of talented board members, while working on critically important initiatives that will help us grow.

Our ideal candidate is someone who is adept with social media content management, and is creatively thoughtful interacting with online communities and building relationships. We seek an individual who is skilled at project management and can work independently.

Skills and experience you will build:
• How to create a long term social media plan and marketing calendar.
• Relationship building with our online community by maintaining Facebook, Twitter, and other media accounts.
• Create compelling content that will be shared by influencers.
• Creative feedback and viral loops between our Facebook Page, Twitter, Email and blog accounts.
• Plenty of additional opportunities in related projects including database.

What we require:
• Background in Marketing, communications, public relations, non-profit management or related disciplines.
• Strong communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Suite Office.
• Organized, with an ability to prioritize time-sensitive assignments.
• Creative and flexible.
• Familiarity with social networking sites desired, but we will also train.
• Interest in nonprofit management and community development.
• Willingness to reach out to traditional media for promotion.

The position begins May 1st and ends July 31st. Pay is $18/hour and hours are flexible, half-time position.

No specific education requirement, junior or older preferred. Must have promotional copywriting and editing skills. Experience in using Excel (database and mail merge, not budget), handling email programs (Mail Chimp), social media (Facebook, Twitter), and graphics design (Adobe Suite). Highly motivated, capable of research, ability to work independently and out of the office is important.
Transportation is desirable.
