Live Events Operator, Verizon (Ashburn, Virginia)

The ideal candidate will have either a journalism degree or mass communications curriculum. Previous experience within a video production control room, preferably broadcasting, specifically sports.
The position requires an operator to manipulate a customized application that inserts commercial messages into a broadcast transport stream. The operator will begin and end the sporting event according to instructions issued from remote control room site. During the event, the operator will also trigger commercial breaks, according to the sporting event format.
Attention to detail and basic knowledge of video production procedures will be required to review and authenticate live transmissions from remote venues.

Duties:
· Review event scheduling application and report event activities through standard office software
· Launch and operate a customized Event Management application
· Begin, End and Insert commercial breaks into live programming
· Clearly communicate all activities with the source venue control room
· Document any incidents, outages, or process gaps according to procedures

This will be part-time work - anywhere from 8 to 40 hours per week. Most shifts will be between Thursday and Sunday, when most sporting events are happening.
