Public Relations Intern, Omaha-Council Bluffs MAPA


Omaha – Council Bluffs Metropolitan Area Planning Agency (MAPA) is a voluntary association of local governments created to provide a forum for coordinating local planning and development activities. MAPA is looking for an intern to work specifically on Heartland 2050, an eight county, long-range regional visioning process. The intern who fills this position should expect to be involved in all aspects of the project, It's essential that applicants to this position have excellent organizational, and communication skills, demonstrate creativity, and understand the importance of attending to even the smallest details.

Responsibilities
 Schedule and coordinate logistics for Heartland 2050 meetings
 Assist with material development including the Heartland 2050 Annual Report
 Assist with mailings, and print production
 Maintain online outreach and promotion using Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and more
 Compile group meeting lists and contacts
 Create or update databases
 Assist with events such as the Heartland 2050 Winter Summit

Requirements (20 hours per week)
Students applying for this internship must have strong communication skills and should be majoring in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing or Journalism. Applicants should also have strong writing skills, as well as a solid understanding of social media. Attention to detail is a must. Only interns proficient with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications should apply. Basic knowledge of Wordpress or CMS is a plus.
