The Roanoke Times, Southwest Virginia’s largest newspaper, is seeking a talented journalist for a paid summer internship, including regular and in-depth reporting and a mix of hard news and features writing. Our interns cover breaking news, generate story ideas and work on long-term projects while juggling daily assignments. Interns become part of a staff working in a team environment with other reporters, editors and photographers. College newspaper or equivalent experience is required. So, too, is a demonstrated ability to write clearly, accurately and with flair. Previous intern experience strongly preferred. If you’re right for the job, email a cover letter, three to five samples of your best work and a resume with references to Managing Editor Lee Wolverton at lee.wolverton@roanoke.com by Feb. 5, 2016. Subject lines in emails should read: Internship-Reporter
