CoJMC to host Springboard Your Career Fair and Social Media Panel

The University of Nebraska–Lincoln College of Journalism and Mass Communications is hosting Springboard Your Career job fair. It’s, an opportunity for students to meet with employers, in Andersen Hall on Friday, March 4 from 1 to 4 p.m.

Students should bring their resumes, portfolios, clips and reels and get them in front of employers at this career fair event. There will be computers available for students to plug flash drives into to present their work.

“Journalists, broadcasters, advertisers and public relations students will get the unique opportunity to share their work in a one-on-one setting with employers representing many fields,” said Trina Creighton, associate professor of broadcasting and fair organizer. “If you’re a CoJMC student looking for a job or internship or you just want an outside professional in your field to review your work, it doesn’t get much better than the Springboard Your Career job fair.”

This is the second year the college is hosting the Springboard Your Career Fair. Last year’s employers included Flood Communications, Lincoln Journal Star, WOWT and Hurrdat. This year’s event will include a variety of organizations hiring for advertising, broadcasting, journalism and public relations positions.

Following the career fair, the CoJMC Student Advisory Board is hosting a social media panel. Local social media experts NET Social Media Strategist Eric Martin, Hurrdat Social Media Manager Ruth Oliver and UNL Social Media Specialist Tyler Thomas will discuss what social media skills employers are looking for and how to use it as a tool. The panel will begin at 4 p.m. in Andersen 15.
