Check out ACES, the American Copy Editors Society chapter. It's not just for copy editors. It's for anyone who wants to network with professionals, improve their own writing and editing, learn about internship opportunities and have fun. Yes, this is a group that plays games, has free food, and gives away prizes.
The first meeting is at 3:30 p.m., Friday, Sept. 9, in Room 120. It is open to anyone.
On the agenda: Learn about the fabulous Dow Jones editing internships from Brady Jones, a recent graduate who had a Dow Jones internship at the Dallas Morning News. You'll also find out how to get a professional mentor and network with editors at a conference next spring in New Orleans. And yes, there will be free food at the meeting.
