Web Design Intern, Water for Food Institute

The Water for Food Global Institute (WFI) was founded in 2010 to address the global challenge of achieving food security with less pressure on water resources through improved management of water in agricultural and food systems. About the Position:
We are looking for a web developer intern to continue building an existing database driven website to showcase research projects related to WFI & NWC. This includes updating the existing HTML within the database to match the look and feel of the new Nebraska Water Center website; and also to restore functionality to non-working pages. Duties will include updating the HTML using a text editor and FTP client. In addition, there will also be the opportunity to create a custom website, based on WordPress for a WFI research project. This opportunity would also include the task of modifying a custom WordPress theme to fit the needs for the website.

Pay for the internship will be $10/hour, with approximately 60 hours of time estimated for completion of tasks. The web design intern will work with Craig Eiting, WFI’s web developer and graphic design specialist. This person may also interact with other NWC/WFI faculty and staff as needed. Work would start as soon as possible, and likely run through August 2016. Work for this position is required to be completed within the WFI offices during the business hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Required Knowledge, Ability and Skills:
• Basic understanding of HTML/CSS
• Interest in learning new web technologies
• Examples of past websites / projects
• Familiarity with a content management system
• Self-Learner. Ability to find solutions to problems independently with minimal assistance.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Pursuing a degree at any University of Nebraska campus
