Broadcast Infrastructure Engineer, Major League Baseball Advanced Media (Omaha)

Candidate will be involved with the planning, procurement, installation, test evaluations and life-cycle support for new, existing, and expanded multimedia broadcast systems. This position will report directly to the onsite Infrastructure Engineering Manager.

Technical Liaison

Assist with efforts to install, maintain, repair, expand broadcast, and broadcast related systems, and work to refine processes related to said systems with multiple departments, both remote and local. Candidate should have an eagerness to learn and adapt to new broadcast and IP technologies to meet current and future needs of the facilities.

Principal Duties:

-Install, test, document, modify and repair multimedia hardware, software related to broadcast and broadcast related network devices.
-Review all nightly engineering reports and process requests for follow up support.
-Provide support of video transmission systems, including IP and ASI encoding, decoding, and other broadcast transmission related hardware.
-Proactively monitor, analyze and rectify technical faults in a variety of broadcast and broadcast related IP systems.
-Create, implement and manage monitoring tools to provide proactive support for equipment in all facilities.
-Coordinate with Technical Operations Centers across the country to trouble shoot on and off-air equipment.
-Provide support for Systems, Network and Media Delivery departments.
-Assist with testing potential equipment for future projects, working through demo equipment setup and operations, and identify how it might integrate with existing systems.
-Perform initial OOB/network configuration to establish device connectivity for other departments.
-Ability to manufacture audio, video, network, serial and other industry standard cables.
-Ability to read schematic and topology drawings.
-Distribute documents and other design information to consumers and operators of systems in a timely manner.
-Provide technical design drawings to remote engineers for implementation.
-Support and assist in integration of broadcast/replay system updates at remote locations.
-Perform regular sweeps of facilities to document errors as found and notify the system owners of faults found with their equipment.
-Work directly with engineers from a variety of partners and vendors to resolve interoperability and functionality issues.
-Execute regular maintenance and upgrades of broadcast systems during overnight maintenance windows.
-Create network port and firewall requests to add equipment to our facility.
-Provide regular status and system update reports to management.
-Perform routine backups of system configurations and logs.
-Manage passwords for all Broadcast Systems.
-Oversee asset management duties including maintaining equipment stock and tracking on-going RMAs within facilities.

Required Skills:

The candidate will also possess in-depth knowledge of IP networks, video matrix routers, audio and video broadcast systems, as well as knowledge of integrated multimedia control systems. Programming experience is highly desirable, but not required. We are looking for candidates that can contribute to system builds from their foundation to their completion. You will work closely with vendors to integrate new systems into our workflow.

-Comprehensive knowledge of video backhaul and distribution.
-Occasional weekend and overnight availability to perform work within maintenance windows.
-Available for on-call support.
-Understanding of networking topology, and OSI Model.
-Mac/PC/Linux Operating Systems
-Experience with configuring equipment via serial, BIOS, ILOM, IDRAC, CIMC and TCP/IP.
-Experience with Omnigraffle, Visio, or CAD
-Knowledge of ASI and IP Video Transport concepts
-Experience with Evertz, Ross, Sencore, Grass Valley, Snell and other Broadcast hardware manufacturers.
-Video and Audio Routing Switching hardware and matrices.
-Video and Audio Processing and conversion hardware.

Preferred Skills:

-Ability to travel to remote sites as needed (15-30% travel)
-Experience with Wireshark, or other packet analyzers.
-Experience with video encoding and assorted CODECs.
