Six students for the College of Journalism & Mass Communications won a 2017 American Marketing Association (AMA) Lincoln Prism Award in the market consumer - student category for their campaign “Big Ten Fan Face-Off.” The team partnered with Fox Sports University to research and create a campaign that would increase awareness for college football for the 2017 season.

The team included Savanah Baker, Frank Hefner, Ronni Jackson, Grant Ramm, Marin Tartaglia and Derek Watson. The students were lead by professor Frauke Hachtmann and lecturer Kelli Britten.

The campaign allowed fans of Big Ten teams to compete against each other to reveal which school had the best fans. Fans participated in different competitions and events that allowed them to showcase their love for their team.

“It was an honor to win an AMA-Lincoln Prism Award,” said Savanah Baker, co-account executive and copywriter for the campaign and CoJMC graduate student. “The fact that professionals of the industry saw and valued the campaign we created was a huge compliment to the work we put in last semester. I couldn't have been more proud of my team, and I think winning this award affirmed in us the value of the campaign we created.

The AMA-Lincoln Prisms recognize excellence in marketing in the Lincoln and surrounding communities.
