The Minority Health Disparities Initiative at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln seeks to hire a highly-effective part-time Coordinator to provide specialized programmatic support to the initiative. This position provides administrative support and coordination that requires independent judgment for the MHDI.
The coordinator will provide administrative support in the development, coordination, and promotion of the initiative and perform clerical and administrative support tasks. They will be responsible for creating and editing program correspondence, reports, program handbooks, promotional materials, educational materials, newsletters, brochures, web content, and other publications. This position will is also responsible for conducting media relations and releases for selected events or activities.
The ideal candidate must be able to problem solve and make communication and messaging/branding decisions that will affect project outcomes on a daily basis. With director and investigator guidance, this position has some autonomy to make communication and event-planning decisions as needed to complete project goals.
This position has a high level of interaction with university faculty and staff. The employee will serve as a liaison between faculty, staff, students, and community organizations that are engaged with the initiative. The individual will represent the initiative in interactions with other departments and initiatives.
Requirements:
> Bachelor’s degree plus one year of marketing, communications, media or public relations experience preferred; equivalent education/experience considered.
> Excellent written and verbal skills. Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Adobe Software required.
> Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills and the ability to work independently and effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
> Experience coordinating and communicating with campus organizations and departments preferred.
