It’s simple to sum up the Bateman Competition.

Do good. Affect change. Rank high.

Bateman, sponsored annually by the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA), challenges student teams to research and plan a social cause campaign that’s implemented on campus and in the community. This real-world opportunity allows students across CoJMC majors to hone skills in project management, writing, videography, photography, social media, graphic design and community relations.

The 2019 Bateman Competition will affect change by uniting students to advocate for greater diversity in the PR and communications professions. Previous Bateman campaigns have addressed social issues related to childhood cancer, mental health, student veterans and affordable housing.

The best of the best journalism, media and communications collegiate programs participate in Bateman.

CoJMC teams’ campaigns have earned top-3, top-16 and top-20 national finishes in the College’s four years of competing.

If you’d like to join these notable ranks, go to journalism.unl.edu/do-good-campaign to apply.

The application deadline is TODAY - Sept. 25.

Please contact Prof. Sheri Sallee, who serves as the competition faculty adviser, at ssallee2@unl.eduif you have any questions.
