Communications/Community Outreach Intern - Community Health Endowment of Lincoln (Lincoln, NE)

The Community Health Endowment of Lincoln (CHE) works to make Lincoln the healthiest community in the nation. 2018 is our 20th anniversary and we need an energetic, social media savvy, event planner to help with communications and community outreach. Gain great experience working in a small, fast‐paced nonprofit organization with exposure to every aspect of how nonprofits work. Located within walking distance of UNL's City Campus and on major bus routes.

General Tasks (under supervision):
> Help plan and coordinate a series of pop up events around Lincoln produced in collaboration with nonprofit agency partners to celebrate CHE’s 20th anniversary.
> Update and maintain CHE’s social media presence and produce monthly social media analytics.
> Help maintain CHE’s website.
> Help plan and write email blasts and email newsletters.
> Other duties as assigned, agreed upon and appropriate.

Qualifications:
> Event planning interest and experience.
> Ability and willingness to reach out to agencies, making cold calls if necessary, to plan events collaboratively.
> Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
> Excellent writing skills (writing sample may be requested for finalists).
> Social media fluency.
> Working toward a college degree preferably in a related field (Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Advertising, and Communication). Junior or senior student preferred.
> Ability to communicate professionally with community contacts and colleagues.
> Good organizational skills, ability to prioritize, follow‐through and meet deadlines.
> Experience with website content management systems and photography/photo editing skills helpful.
> Interest in public health, healthy living, and nonprofit work a plus.

Hours and duration: 10 – 15 hours per week during spring semester 2019; schedule negotiable for summer 2019. Position will be filled initially for spring 2019 with the preference of continuing through summer and possibly beyond.

Salary: $12/hour
