Media Relations/Journalism Internship - The Basket Is Full, Inc (Lincoln, NE)

Are you an aspiring journalist that has a passion for being in the forefront of breaking news? If so, we want your talents here at The Basket Is Full, Inc. We are seeking 1 to 6 undergraduate or graduate students who intend to pursue a career in journalism and/or video journalism for an unpaid internship, for the first six weeks.

After six weeks, we are seeking to hire two of these fantastic students while they are still in their studies for a part-time position during school and full-time during time off. The remaining students will continue working as interns for an additional six weeks with the same opportunity to join our team. This position is genuinely internship to hire!

We are excited to offer these positions to students early in their college career who attend UNL and live in Omaha or Lincoln. Upon being hired, the starting hourly rate will be $16.00 to $18.00 base. The opportunity to work directly alongside our upper management team of content creators will allow the students to explore better ways to communicate with the general public regarding our corporate news.

The ideal candidates are enterprising, energetic, and eager to learn about how to serve an audience in real time across digital, video and print platforms. The candidate doesn't need to be an expert in food or business, but robust reporting and writing skills are required, as is a commitment to the highest journalistic ethics. Enthusiasm for people and business journalism is a must; relevant experience is preferred but not required.

Interns must be self-motivated and passionate for all things creative, technological, and the digital culture. An edgy sense of humor is a plus. The Basket Is Full, Inc., is unable to sponsor students needing H1 Visas at this time.

You'll be doing a lot more than getting coffee! Expect to work and interview our local community. Interns must have transportation and be able to travel between Lincoln and Omaha.

Application instructions: Please submit your resume, writing samples and a very informal letter that tells us a bit about yourself and your interests, and your passion for being out in front of breaking news. If you have a short video reel, please provide a link as well when you submit your information to info@purjava.com. Please write in the subject line "Interested in your internship" and address your e-mail to Jonathan Galicia.

*Application deadline: December 1, 2018.
