JOUR 491/891.791 | MINI SESSION, Jan. 7 - March 1, 2019 | online | Michelle Hassler

This course explores the concept and practice of solutions journalism, an emerging journalism model that is being adopted by a variety of news outlets -- from The New York Times to the Colorado Springs Gazette. You’ll learn how to incorporate solutions journalism concepts into the reporting process to develop and pitch ideas and to source, frame and write stories or scripts. You’ll have the opportunity to hear from journalists who are practicing solutions journalism. And you’ll study the latest research about how this model creates impact and engages audiences.
